Cops searching for two late-night gunmen who shot Checkers’ employee (video)
Detectives with the Broward Sheriff’s Office (BSO) released a surveillance video of a shooting that took place just after 4 a.m. on July 26 at the Checkers restaurant located at 4000 W. Hallandale Beach Blvd. in Pembroke Park, Florida. Authorities hope that someone will recognize the dangerous duo that shot up the Checkers. The gunmen shot at two of the Checkers’ employees.
The popular drive-thru specializing in burgers, hot dogs, french fries and milkshakes had just closed its doors for the day when a white SUV pulled up to the restaurant with a male driver and one female passenger. The couple was looking for something to eat and asked the two employees who were walking out the door if they could get some food.
The employees explained that the restaurant was closed. Not taking “no” for an answer, the driver pulled out a handgun and fired several shots toward the two men. One of the employees was shot in the leg. The video below shows the one employee limping toward the restaurant trying to get back inside after the bullet struck him.
“Gunshots — that was it — and one of my employees got hit, but I didn’t see anything,” one employee told Local 10 News.
That gunshot victim was transported to a local hospital with what police described as a none life-threatening injury. The other employee was unharmed.
BSO’s Violent Crime Unit and Crime Scene Unit detectives are investigating. CBS4 in Miami reports that “there were half a dozen evidence markers on the ground next to bullet casings and two bullet holes in a pillar in front of the restaurant.”
Anyone with information regarding the shooting is asked to contact BSO Det. Devoune Williams at (954) 321-4235.
