Coral Springs doctor, 64, charged after sending nude pics of himself to 13-year-old child
On January 26, the Broward Sheriff’s Office in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, announced that a 64-year-old doctor from Broward County was arrested Tuesday morning by Broward Sheriff’s Office Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) detectives – after a joint investigation with Coral Springs Police Department revealed that he sent sexually explicit messages and photographs to an underage victim.
Detectives obtained information that in early April, Stewart Bitman sent a number of sexual text messages and nude photos of himself to a 13-year-old child. Detectives believe Bitman knew he was communicating with a minor; and while attempting to solicit victims, he portrayed himself as a teenage boy.
During the search warrant executed at Bitman’s home in Parkland, Florida, on Tuesday morning – with assistance from BSO SWAT team members – the doctor was taken into custody. Numerous electronic devices were seized from the home for further forensic analysis.
Bitman was booked at the BSO Main Jail. He faces three counts of transmission of material harmful to a minor and one count of solicitation of a minor. Detectives are working to identify additional victims with whom Bitman may have communicated.
According to MedicineNet, Stewart Wade Bitman, MD, specializes in Gastroenterology and Internal Medicine with the Office of Gastroenterology Consultants, located at 3001 Coral Hills Dr, Ste 250, in Coral Springs; and he is affiliated with Northwest Medical Center, University Hospital Medical Center and Broward Health Coral Springs.
Bitman graduated from the Universidad De Monterrey Facultad De Medicina in 1981 and has been in practice for 40 years.
