Dale Spidle: Naked Florida killer’s reign of terror, three brutal murders, more injured
A strange and brutally tragic series of events began Friday afternoon in a South Florida apartment complex where a woman was shot dead and a baby was found seriously injured. The shooter stole his female victim’s car, crashes that car, shoots and kills another victim, steals another vehicle, stops at a Walgreens, robs a woman and tries to run away on foot – all while he was completely naked.
On May 22, Fox 35 Orlando reported that police managed to arrest the naked killer, identified as 35-year-old Dale Spidle.
After Spidle fled the apartment complex where he shot the woman and left a baby with traumatic injuries, police in Coral Springs were called to respond to a hit-and-run crash at the corner of Powerline Road and Sample Road in Pompano Beach around 2 p.m. on Friday afternoon where another fatal shooting occurred.
BSO deputies responded to a report of a man lying in the roadway, not breathing, near the 800 block of Northeast 48th Street in Deerfield Beach. On scene deputies located an unresponsive adult male. The victim had sustained a gunshot wound and was pronounced deceased on scene. ~ BSO
Two people in the vehicle he crashed into suffered injuries that were not life-threatening. Spidle then abandoned the Kia and took over a utility truck.
He then drove to the parking lot of a Walgreens, got out of the truck naked, and robbed a woman of her necklace. After the robbery, he ran west on Sample Road, still naked, before he was apprehended by Coconut Creek Police at a Shell gas station at 4701 W. Sample Road.
He was then placed in an ambulance and transported to Northwest Medical Center in Margate.

After he was arrested, Coral Springs Police and Fire Rescue went to Spidle’s residence in Coral Springs on the 4100 block of Northwest 88th Avenue, where they found a neighbor’s door ajar. Inside was a deceased 31-year-old woman, who was the owner of the stolen Kia, and two juveniles with traumatic injuries, including a baby boy.
The infant, said to be less than one-year-old, was rushed to Broward Health Medical Center with serious traumatic injuries. It’s not clear as of this writing what happened to the second child at the scene; and the exact nature of the children’s injuries has not been disclosed.
Police on the scene provided immediate medical attention once they discovered the woman and baby. The woman died at the scene. The baby boy was transported to Broward Health Hospital, where he later died from his injuries.

The woman that Spidle is accused of killing was reported to be the infant’s babysitter.
At his Saturday initial court appearance, Spidle appeared with a cast on his arm which he complained to be broken in several places – and was ordered to be held without bond. He’s looking at charges of murder, aggravated battery with a deadly weapon and fleeing the scenes of multiple accidents.
