A 54-year-old Collier County woman is under arrest after a Collier County Sheriff’s Office (CCSO) investigation determined that she repeatedly struck and yelled at a baby in her care. The woman owns and operates a day care facility in Naples, Florida.  A child at that facility videotaped the day care owner repeatedly hitting and yelling at a baby there.

The day care owner, Deysi Acosta, was charged with child abuse without great bodily harm.

According to detectives, another child at Acosta’s home day care used an iPad that belonged to a third child attending the daycare.  That child videotaped Acosta as Acosta repeatedly struck the baby on the buttocks and legs while she was changing his diaper. Acosta could be heard yelling at the young victim by his name and calling him an “untrained savage horse” in Spanish, according to the arrest report.

Collier County Detectives characterized the video as disturbing and said it was clear that Acosta was angry and frustrated. The mother of the child who had the iPad later discovered multiple videos of the abuse and contacted the victim’s mother. The victim’s mother then contacted deputies.

Following their investigation deputies located Acosta this past Tuesday and placed her under arrest.  The child recording the footage is heard on the iPad saying that she is hiding the device so she can show it to the police.

A judge did find probable cause Wednesday afternoon at Acosta’s first court hearing.

Judge Deborah Cunningham stated, “I’m issuing a no-contact order with the child, his mother, and the reporter. And there will be no unsupervised contact with minor children, as a condition of bond. There must be an order to relinquish firearms.”

Acosta’s public defender asked for a standard bond, and the state asked for $5,000, but the judge ultimately set bail for $10,000. ~ Wink News.
