Deadly shooting at Tulsa high school homecoming game, one teen dead another seriously hurt
On September 30 just before 10:00 p.m., Tulsa Police Department Officers responded to McLain High School near 4900 N. Peoria for reports of a shooting. When police arrived on the scene, they found two victims amongst the crowd of hundreds who were attending the high school’s homecoming football game.
The shooting reportedly happened near the high school’s tennis court area and not at the actual homecoming game, according to KTUL, ABC News’ Tulsa affiliate
One 17-year-old male was pronounced dead at the scene. Another 17-year-old was taken to a local hospital in critical condition but has improved to stable condition at this time.
Dozens of Officers converged upon the area assisting with crowd control and looking for the suspect. Tulsa PD’s K-9 Unit and several Officers scoured the nearby neighborhoods as officials believed the suspect took off on foot. Unfortunately, the shooter’ trail went cold.
Police believe the suspect to be armed and dangerous, and the only description they could provide is that of a 17-year-old Black male.
Homicide Detectives are actively working this case. Police are hoping hope that of the hundreds of people in attendance at the homecoming celebration, some will come forward and help with this investigation.
