Deputies arrest man after two dogs discovered hung by their necks in his yard

On the evening of March 16, 2025, the St. Lucie County Sheriff’s Office, in collaboration with St. Lucie County Animal Safety, initiated an investigation into an alleged case of animal cruelty at 2111 Dade Road, Fort Pierce, Florida. Deputies initially responded to the residence for a civil matter at approximately 5:29 p.m. But upon making contact with the resident, identified as Salomon Cruz-Perez, 42, deputies discovered two dead dogs in the backyard.
The dogs, one male and one female, were found suspended by their necks from a tree, bound with various ropes and chains.
Following this horrific discovery, Detectives obtained a search warrant, which was signed by a judge in the early morning hours of March 17. The investigation continued throughout the night with assistance from Crime Scene Investigators. Authorities found that the animals were bound around their necks with coaxial cable, paracord, tie-down straps, and chains.
The remains of the deceased animals were collected by St. Lucie County Animal Control and are being transported to Orlando for a necropsy. The necropsy will determine the cause, mode, and manner of death.
Salomon Cruz-Perez has been charged with two counts of Aggravated Animal Cruelty resulting in death. He is currently incarcerated at the St. Lucie County Jail, with a bond set at $10,000.

The Sheriff’s Office went on to say that this case remains under investigation.
