Deputies make additional arrests in Harford County shooting
Yesterday, the Harford County Sheriff’s Office reported that their deputies arrested three additional men in connection to a non-fatal shooting that occurred on April 18 in Edgewood. Detectives initially developed information identifying Niles Richard Alleyne, 18, of Aberdeen, as a suspect. A warrant for his arrest was issued on April 21; and on April 26, Alleyne turned himself in at the Harford County Detention Center (HCSC.)   Since his arrest, Alleyne has been detained at HCSC on a no bond status.
Back on April 18 at 6:01 p.m., deputies assigned responded to the area of Harford Square Drive in response to multiple reports of a shooting. Upon arrival in the area of F Court, deputies located signs of a shooting, but no victims. At approximately the same time, troopers with the Maryland State Police located a two-vehicle crash at the intersection of Hanson Road and Woodbridge Center Way.
Three men were located near one of the vehicles involved in the crash, all suffering from injuries. They were identified as Jahmee Isiah Ballard, 24, of Havre de Grace, Ramon Mendoza, 22, of Aberdeen, and Garfield Smith III, 29, of Middle River. Smith was found to be suffering from a gunshot wound to the lower body. No other injuries were reported.
As a result of the investigation, arrest warrants were issued for the three men on Friday, April 30, 2021. All three are charged with Attempted 1st and 2nd degree murder, 1st and 2nd degree assault, CDS possession with intent to distribute, and other related charges. Deputies assigned to the Harford County Sheriff’s Office Warrant Apprehension Unit took Smith and Ballard into custody that night and arrested Mendoza on May 3, 2021.
Smith and Ballard are being held at the Harford County Detention Center with no bond, Mendoza is also being held awaiting his initial appearance before a District Court Commissioner.
