Desperate search continues for missing newborn after father found shot dead
Last night the world learned that Ernesto Caballeiro, the man widely suspected of killing three women in a home that he owned in Miami-Dade County, was found dead in his van from a self-inflicted gunshot wound. A frantic search has been ongoing for Caballeiro after police suspected the Florida man of running off with his one-week old son, Andrew, after killing those women.
It should be noted that police have not yet firmly stated that Caballeiro was the man who killed those three women.
The three women that many of us suspect that Caballeiro killed were Andrew’s mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. The three victims were discovered in the home by another family member who went to perform a welfare check after no-one at the home answered any phone calls.
There is still no sign of the missing infant, Andrew Caballeiro.
Investigators are still actively searching for this missing infant. Police say that a baby’s pacifier was found in the van in which the father killed himself – but no sign of the baby in that wooded area where the van was found.
The Pasco Sheriff’s Office shared images of the vehicle to its Facebook page on Wednesday, asking residents to reach out if they had seen the vehicle within the last 36 hours. The vehicle was found in rural Blanton, Florida, more than 300 miles north of where the baby went missing. ~ ABC News
“We had the bloodhounds out there searching and the bloodhounds found nothing. There was no indication that the child was in the area,” Pasco Sheriff Chris Nocco told reporters after the discovery. “As many people as we can are out there right now searching. … We’re looking for any signs of this little baby.”
In an 8:30 a.m. update from the Pasco Sheriff’s Office this morning, police said that there was no evidence discovered at the scene that confirms baby Andrew was with his father in Pasco County. The Pasco County investigation revealed Ernesto left the Miami-Dade County area about four and half hours before arriving at the location in Pasco County, and was only in this location minutes before fatally shooting himself.
There have also been reports of a blonde-haired woman spotted in the area that may be connected with Caballeiro.

But further investigation suggests that the reported female may have been someone who simply stopped to check on the vehicle after the incident occurred and was not directly involved in this case.
The most promising investigative leads to the whereabouts of Baby Andrew remain within Miami Dade County at this time. Any questions regarding the Miami Dade investigation should be directed to the Miami Dade Police Department. ~ Pasco Sheriff’s Office
