On February 5, the Indian River County Sheriff’s Office (IRCSO) in Vero Beach, Florida, announced the arrests of two individuals driving through their jurisdiction who failed to observe the rules of the road and ended up getting busted for possessing and dealing narcotics.

It was around 11:40 p.m. on February 3 when deputies witnessed a vehicle blow through a stop sign at the intersection of U.S. Highway 1 and Highland Drive in the Florida Ridge area.  A traffic stop was conducted on the vehicle on Highland Drive SW. During the traffic stop, deputies observed multiple occupants inside the vehicle – and the smell of burnt marijuana hung heavy in the air.

All of the occupants were temporarily detained, searched, and interviewed on the scene.  During the search, the following illegal drugs were located:

  • 8.43 grams of fentanyl
  • 7.6 grams of crack cocaine
