After being awarded a judgment of $83.3 million by the jury that had front row seats at E. Jean Carroll’s defamation trial against Donald Trump, Caroll informed the media that she had a plan for how she’d like to spend that money. The 80-year-old author and former magazine journalist told ABC News yesterday that she’d like to “give the money to something Donald Trump hates.”
“If it’ll cause him pain for me to give money to certain things, that’s my intent,” Carroll told George Stephanopoulos on “Good Morning America,” suggesting she would create a “fund for the women who have been sexually assaulted by Donald Trump.”
The story behind Carroll and the ex-president has its roots dating back to the 1990s when Carroll claimed that Trump sexually assaulted her in the dressing room of a New York City department store. Trump vigorously denied those allegations, paving the way for Carroll to file a defamation lawsuit against him. In 2023, Trump was found guilty of both defaming Carroll and sexually abusing her; and a jury awarded her $5 million in damages. Trump, being Trump, continued to vigorously defame Carroll, and on January 26, 2024, in the midst of his 2024 presidential campaign, Trump was again found liable for defamation against Carroll. But this time the jury awarded her an additional $83.3 million, above, and beyond and in addition to the original $5 million.
So, Carroll has good cause to celebrate and to daydream on how best to spend those funds on something that Trump hates. And if she needs help spending those Donald defamation dollars on other things Trump has no love for, she could also consider making donations to:
- The Biden Administration,
- The Black Lives Matter Movement,
- The New York Times,
- The American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU),
- Planned Parenthood,
- ObamaCare,
- Volodymyr Zelensky, President of Ukraine, and perhaps
- NATO
Are there any other people, places, things, or organizations that Donald Trump hates that our Ace News Today readers can think of?
Trump continues to declare his innocence saying that not only did he never rape Carroll, he never met her and doesn’t know her – although there is photographic evidence to the contrary. Trump says he plans to appeal that judgement award to Carroll, which breaks down to $65 million in punitive damages and $18.3 million in compensatory damages for defamatory statements he made after Carroll accused him in 2019 of sexually assaulting her.
