East Baltimore man arrested and charged with attempted murder following Cecil Ave shooting
On June 2 at
approximately 6:33 p.m., a 26-year-old man walked into Baltimore City’s Union
Memorial Hospital, suffering from a gunshot wound to his back.
Officers with the Baltimore Police Department (BPD) had previously
received a call regarding gunshots being discharged in the 2200 block of Cecil
Avenue in East Baltimore, but had been unable to locate a victim until the call
for a walk-in shooting was dispatched.
When officers arrived at the 2200 block of Cecil
Avenue, witnesses at the scene directed them to 41-year-old Laquan
Jones-Hillman.
Jones-Hillman, who lives at that location on Cecil Avenue, was detained
by police. Following the BPD’s
preliminary investigation, Jones-Hillman was arrested for shooting the 26-year-old
victim.
Jones-Hillman has been charged with 1st and 2nd
Degree Attempted Murder and is now at Central Booking waiting to see a court
commissioner.
