Easter video of Donald Trump and Roger Stone at Mar-a-Lago: ‘Ron DeSantis is a piece of s***’
Former President Donald Trump celebrated the Easter holiday weekend at his Mar-a-Lago resort in Palm Beach, Florida, where on Saturday night he was joined by one of his most fervent supporters – Roger Stone.
Stone, perhaps best known as Trump’s “political trickster” loyalist, was charged during the infamous Mueller investigation in 2019 with one count of obstruction, five counts of false statements, and one count of witness tampering – and then sentenced to 40 months in federal prison.
“Federal prosecutors said Stone attempted to undermine the investigation in order to protect Trump. Stone was found guilty of all seven charges brought against him,” according to The Business Insider. On July 10, 2020, while still president, Trump officially commuted Stone’s federal prison sentence, which was set to begin on July 14.
While Trump and Stone were embracing this weekend at Mar-a-Lago, Stone is heard on video telling the former president, “Watch DeSantis. He’s a piece of …”
That’s when the clip cuts off, but at least one reporter who shared the clip seemed convinced he said, “s***,” according to The Washington Examiner. The video clip titled “Roger Stone and Donald Trump together again,” only lasts for 14 seconds. Stone posted it initially to Rumble and then to Telegram and Gettr on Saturday evening.
Newsweek shared a transcription of that video:
“Roger, my man, I didn’t even see you,” the former president says, coming up to give Stone a slight hug. “How can I not see my friend?”
“God bless you,” Stone says in response. Trump then says something inaudible before his friend leans in, gesturing with his hand, as he says, “Ron DeSantis is a piece of s***.” The video then cuts abruptly.
Stone is badmouthing the Florida Governor because he feels DeSantis is a threat to a potential Trump bid to run for president again in 2024. Back in 2019, DeSantis made a name for himself after riding Trump’s coattails into the Florida Governor’s mansion. He’s since gained right-wing popularity on his own political merits.
Although DeSantis hasn’t confirmed he’ll be running for president in 2024, many feel that he’d be a good contender for the Republican party.
Earlier this year, Stone accused DeSantis of not being loyal to Trump, who many Republicans still consider to be the party boss.
“Governor Ron DeSantis refuses to put his own presidential ambitions on hold until President Donald Trump has decided to whether he wants to run again,” he said in a January video. “I consider that to be an incredible act of disloyalty and ingratitude.” ~ Newsweek
