Edgemere shooter charged with murder of Dundalk man
One man is dead and another arrested, following an altercation that escalated into a fatal shooting in Edgemere, Maryland, on the morning of July 7. Baltimore County Police identified the shooting victim as 26-year-old Brandon Austin Boemmel of the 6700 block of North Point Road in Dundalk.
On July 8, police reported that 28-year-old Jonathan Clay Hickey of the 7500 block of North Point Road in Edgemere had been charged with first- and second-degree murder and was being held without bond following a bail review.
Officers responded to the 7500 block of North Point Road for the shooting just after 2 a.m. Medics responded to the scene and began treating the victim immediately, who was in critical condition while being transported to the hospital.
Hickey remained at the scene and was taken to police headquarters for questioning. The Baltimore County Police Homicide Unit is continuing their investigation into the circumstances surrounding this fatal shooting.
Boemmel died at Johns Hopkins Bayview Medical Center around 4:30 on the morning of July 7 while he was being treated for at least one gunshot wound to the upper body.
