Ex-Cowboys RB Joseph Randle arrested and charged with rape
On September 7, former Dallas Cowboys running back Joseph Randle was arrested in Wichita, Kansas, and charged with rape. Arrest records posted by the Sedgwick County Sheriff’s Office show that Randle got booked into the Sedgwick County Jail at 3:43 a.m. on Friday. This arrest is the latest in a slew of arrests that have plagued the former-NFLer, according to ESPN. In addition to being charged with rape on Friday, Randle was also charged with a parole violation which could mean significant jail time on just that charge alone.
He spent most of the past two years in jail, with occasional stints in a state mental hospital, on an array of charges. Several of them were related to Randle hitting three people with a car after an argument at a housewarming party. During his time in jail, he was charged with assaulting a fellow inmate.
In 2015, Randle was arrested and booked on suspicion of criminal threat, assault of a law enforcement officer, battery, disorderly conduct, criminal trespass, disorderly conduct and interference with a law enforcement officer after an altercation at a Kansas casino. ~ ESPN
Fox News reports that Randle has spent most of the last few years behind bars. Following his most recent legal woes prior to this one, he was released from prison and placed on parole with the understanding that any parole violations would send him back to jail. He was released by the Cowboys in 2015 and suspended by the NFL for personal conduct policy violations.
At one point he was arrested six times in 17 months, including incidents in which he stole underwear and cologne from a store while he was still with the Cowboys. Randle also allegedly ripped a TV off the wall in jail, according to TMZ.
The Sheriff’s Office didn’t share any additional specifics of Randle’s rape charge; nor did authorities share the name of his alleged victim. TMZ did share that when police arrived at the scene of the domestic dispute, they found “a 28-year-old woman who had minor facial injuries, and reported being sexually assaulted by Randle.” For more on the story, see the video accompanying this article.
