Ezra Miller ‘The Flash’ actor arrested in Hawaii for the second time in weeks
Ever since achieving stardom as superhero “The Flash” in Warner Brothers’ films “Justice League” and the upcoming “The Flash” movie, actor Ezra Miller has been making the headlines for the bad behavior exhibited in his private life. He’s been arrested twice in the last two months, most recently in Hawaii again and charged with assault.
Yesterday, the Hawaii Police Department announced that shortly after 1 a.m. on Tuesday, April 19, a 29-year-old visitor from Vermont was arrested for second-degree assault after an incident at a prvate house party in Pāhoa. That visitor was later identified as actor Ezra Miller, aka, Barry Allen, “The Flash.”
At 1:10 a.m., Puna patrol officers responded to a report of an assault that occurred at a private residence in the Leilani Estates subdivision in lower Puna.
During the course of their investigation, police determined that Miller became irate after being asked to leave the party and reportedly threw a chair. Unfortunately, that thrown chair struck a 26-year-old woman in the head, “resulting in an approximate half-inch cut,” according to Police. The woman refused treatment for her injury.
Miller, who identifies as they/them, was subsequently arrested at 1:30 a.m. for Assault in the second degree after being located on the roadway during a traffic stop at the intersection of Highway 130 and Kukula Street in Kea‘au. After conferring with the County Prosecutor’s Office, at 4:05 a.m. on Tuesday morning Miller was released pending further investigation, which remains active.
About twelve hours following Miller’s arrest, the actor appeared via Zoom for a court hearing for an arrest last month at a Big Island karaoke bar. Miller pleaded no contest to disorderly conduct and was ordered to pay a $500 fine and stay away from Margarita Village in Hilo. ~ ABC News
“The Flash” star has been having a time of it in Hawaii and is getting to be well known to police there. In addition to his assault charge, he was also charged with harassment, “after police said the actor grabbed a mic from a singing woman and lunged at a man playing darts.” Reportedly, Miller was aggravated by a rendition of the Lady Gaga and Bradley Cooper ballad “Shallow,” Hawaii Police Assistant Chief Kenneth Quiocho said.
The karaoke-bar incident went down on March 28. He was arrested and then and released on $500 bail.
Prosecutors dropped the harassment charge as part of plea deal Miller accepted which also resulted in an unrelated traffic charge against him getting dropped. It was just last week that the harassment charge was dropped in conjunction with a judge dropping a temporary restraining order levied against Miller, “after allegedly barging into the couple’s bedroom and threatening them at a hostel in Hilo.” That restraining order was dropped at the couple’s request, according to Page Six.
Ironically, it was a key scene starring Miller as “The Flash” in Zack Snyder’s Justice League that won the first-ever “Oscars Cheer Moment” at this year’s Academy Awards ceremony. The scene starring Miller shows The Flash running through the Speed Force and altering time.
Fan reactions to Miller’s extracurricular exploits range from them being worrying about his mental health as well as possible blowback that could negatively affect the release of the much anticipated “The Flash” movie, currently scheduled for release on June 23, 2023.
