Fayetteville, Georgia: Home invasion leaves one dead
A wife woke up in bed alone after hearing a noise around 2:30 am on June 23 in her upscale Fayette County, Georgia, home. She followed the sound of the noise looking for her husband. What she found were three men standing over her bleeding husband. The home invaders, one of them holding a gun, were demanding her money and jewelry, according to NBC affiliate 11alive.
Two of the culprits drove off in the couple’s car, a gray Lexus. Police say that after the third man left the home on foot, that they suspect he drove off in the getaway car, the vehicle the three men originally drove up to the home.
The wife dialed 911 telling police that her husband had been shot. After being transported to a nearby hospital, it was discovered that the husband had been stabbed. He died from those stab wounds at Piedmont Fayette hospital.
The Atlanta Journal Constitution reported that the couple’s stolen Lexus was spotted by police and a chase ensued into Fayetteville. The two driving the Lexus crashed the car and ran off on foot. They were taken into custody about 90 minutes later after police tracked them down.
The third man remains on the loose. Police are still looking for him but believe he’s already left the area.
“It’s a puzzle and we’re putting it together,” Fayette County Sheriff’s Lt. Allen Stevens said. “Home invasions are generally not random, but we don’t have any specific information about this home invasion.” Â ~ per 11alive
