FBI releases new videos of Monica de Leon Barba being kidnapped, offers $40,000 reward leading to her recovery

On April 13, the FBI released new video surveillance in the case of kidnapped victim Monica de Leon Barba, a United States citizen, who was kidnapped in Tepatitlán, Jalisco, Mexico, while walking home from work with her dog on November 29, 2022. The FBI is also releasing a Spanish-language version of the kidnapping poster.

“The FBI is requesting the public’s assistance in locating Monica and returning her safely to her family. We believe these videos may help generate new public tips to assist in our investigation,” said FBI Special Agent in Charge Robert K. Tripp.

“The FBI is offering a reward of up to $40,000 for information leading to Monica’s recovery. If you know anything, please come forward to law enforcement.”

The FBI released the following two videos from Monica’s kidnapping in the hopes that these videos will help to generate more tips from the public.

Video #1 first depicts Monica walking her dog in the moments before she was kidnapped.

Video #1 then shows the following vehicles used in the commission of the kidnapping:

  • Vehicle 1: Volkswagen Jetta, silver
  • Vehicle 2: Dodge Charger, gray
  • Vehicle 3: Chevrolet Suburban, white

Video #2 depicts the kidnappers and their vehicles during the kidnapping. Monica was confronted by several suspects and forced into a gray Volkswagen Jetta. The suspects then drive away in three different vehicles, including the Jetta. Monica’s dog is shown in the video loose in the street. Her dog was later safely located and recovered by a family member.

This video indicates at least five suspects were involved in the kidnapping:

  • Suspect 1: Male in dark clothing
  • Suspect 2: Male in white shirt and jeans
  • Suspect 3: Male in dark clothing, in backseat of white Suburban
  • Suspect 4: Male, dark shirt, believed to be driver of gray Charger
  • Suspect 5: (Not shown on video) Presumed driver of the white Suburban
