FBI sting nabs 30-year-old Florida man meeting up with 9-year-old girl for sex
On September 10, the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Middle District of Florida reported that U.S. District Judge Paul G. Byron sentenced Thomas Dean Peron to 17 years and 5 months in federal prison. Peron pleaded guilty to the charge of attempting to entice a minor for sex back on June 25, according to The Orlando Sentinel. Law enforcement records show that the 30-year-old Peron has addresses listed in Orlando and Sanford, Florida.
According to court documents, between February 21 and February 22, 2018, Peron communicated with an undercover FBI agent who was posing as the father of a nine-year-old child. Posing as a bad dad, that FBI agent posted an advertisement online where he offered his nine-year-old daughter up for sex. During communications with Peron, Peron made plans to meet and have sex with the “child.” When Peron arrived to meet the “child,” he was arrested and charged with attempting to entice a minor for sex.
This is not Peron’s first conviction as a sexual offender. In 2011 he was found guilty on 20 counts of possession of child porn with pictures depicting sexual performance by a child, according to the Florida Department of Law Enforcement.
Peron’s most recent case was brought forth as part of Project Safe Childhood, a nationwide initiative launched in May 2006 by the Department of Justice to combat the growing epidemic of child sexual exploitation and abuse.
