Five-hour standoff with East Naples police ends with SWAT intervention
Two Floridians were charged with felonies yesterday after one of them threatened a person at gunpoint. Then the couple proceeded to barricade themselves in an East Naples residence for more than five hours on Sunday night.
Willie X. Jordan Jr., 31, was charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and an outstanding warrant for failure to pay child support.
Nikita Marie Martin, 34, was charged with accessory after the fact and resisting arrest.
Deputies said Jordan pointed a firearm at the victim, stating, “I’ll kill you right now,” outside of a residence on Holly Avenue at around 7 p.m. Jordan and Martin barricaded themselves inside the residence as deputies were responding.
Once deputies were on scene Martin refused to leave her home and insisted she was the only person inside. For several hours Jordan and Martin refused repeated commands from deputies to leave the house. SWAT and a hostage negotiation team were called to the scene and Jordan and Martin eventually exited the residence and were taken into custody shortly after 12:30 on Monday morning.
Both Jordan Jr. and Martin are registered convicted felons.
“Situations like this require an organized, tactical response,” said Sheriff Kevin Rambosk. “I commend our highly trained deputies for bringing this standoff to a peaceful conclusion.”
