On July 31, the Columbus Ohio Police Department released a statement announcing that five of their officers were charged by the department in connection with the July 2018 arrest of adult film star Stephanie Clifford, aka Stormy Daniels, as well as two local strippers – Miranda Panda and Brittany Walters.  The arrests made by the VICE unit officers went down at the Sirens Gentleman’s Club.  That VICE Section has since been disbanded, according to The Hill.

The three strippers were arrested on suspicion of sexually touching a patron while on stage.  Following an extensive investigation, those suspicions proved to be unfounded.

… criminal charges were dropped not long after the arrests when an internal investigation of more than 11,000 emails and over 30 hours of video determined that they were improperly arrested, according to Columbus ABC affiliate WSYX.

The five officers from the Columbus Police Vice Section being charged include a commander, a lieutenant, a sergeant, and two of the arresting officers.  Chief Tom Quinlan made this decision because these officers violated the Columbus Division of Police rules of conduct.  Quinlan did not get into specifics regarding those violations.

Because of pending litigation as well as a concurrent federal criminal investigation, Quinlan said that no further information from the  Columbus Police would be released at this time.  The Chief added that his announcement should not be taken as being reflective of the good work the overwhelming majority of his officers and supervisors do every day.

Back in March 2018, Daniels revealed that she had a romantic and sexual relationship with Donald Trump from 2006 through 2007. She also sued the President of the United States because she wanted to be able to tell her side of the story regarding that relationship,

She had signed a non-disclosure agreement just days before the 2016 presidential election and accepted $130,000 in hush money so she would not discuss or disclose her relationship with Trump. Trump married his current wife, Melania, in 2005.
