(March 19, 2025) Earlier this morning, detectives with South Florida’s St. Luci County Sheriff’s Office executed a search warrant at 210 Banyan Drive in Port St. Luci where SWAT then secured the residence occupied by 28-year-old Sarah Works. Law enforcement officials were anxious to take that woman into custody.
Works gained the trust of the elderly victim by inserting herself into the victim’s life as a caregiver. Once in a position of trust, she exploited the victim’s confidence to access both her financial resources and personal identification. Fortunately, a family member residing out of state noticed suspicious activity in the victim’s bank account and promptly alerted the St. Lucie County Sheriff’s Office, leading to an investigation and the suspect’s subsequent arrest.

Works has been charged with Scheme To Defraud, Fraudulent Use of Credit Cards, and Criminal Use of Personal Identification.
“Fraud and elder abuse are crimes that not only violate the law but also betray the trust of our most vulnerable citizens. We will continue to take a strong stance against those who exploit and harm others for personal gain,” said St. Luci County Sheriff Richard Del Toro.
