Florida cop charged with child abuse after slamming 15-year-old girl to the ground (Video)
Yesterday, Florida’s Broward Sheriff’s Office (BSO) released word that their Internal Affairs Division arrested a school resource deputy on one count of felony child abuse without great bodily harm. BSO School Resource Deputy Willard Miller, 38, turned himself in Tuesday morning, November 5, at Broward County’s Public Safety Building.Â
The incident occurred approximately 2 p.m. on September 25 at Cross Creek School, described as a school for children with emotional and behavioral problems, located at 1010 N.W. 31st Ave. in Pompano Beach.
Deputy Miller is seen on Broward County Public Schools (BCPS) surveillance video grabbing a 15-year-old female student by the neck and slamming her to the ground.
BCPS Special Investigative Unit reported the incident to BSO‘s Internal Affairs Division on September 27. Upon immediate review of the video, Deputy Miller was removed from the school and placed on restricted administrative assignment on September 27.
After further investigation, detectives formally presented the case to the State Attorney’s Office on October 23. Miller was suspended without pay on October 28.
The silent two-and-a-half-minute video shows Willard Miller talking to the girl before suddenly rushing her. He’s then seen grabbing her by the throat and slamming her onto the ground. Miller then flips the teen onto her stomach, before forcibly lifting her up and throwing her out of the room.
“His actions were deplorable. They were uncalled for and they violated multiple policies just on the optics,” said Broward County Sheriff Gregory Tony. ~ CBS News
In response to the video depicting Miller slamming the young girl to the ground, Sheriff Tony was also quoted as saying, “The way the deputy responds, for whatever occurred, whatever type of verbal dialogue was going on, it makes no sense and it wasn’t necessary.”
After being charged with the one count of child abuse, Miller was released on a $5,000 bond. The investigation into his actions is still ongoing. For more on the story, see the video accompanying this article.

So little bit of information based off the video that is totally not acceptable and makes all law enforcement look bad the room that he threw her into afterwards is a timeout room for emotionally disturbed kids commonly used in schools for kids with emotional needs
