Florida man busted after cops chase him through three counties
On August 16, the Martin County Sheriff’s Office reported on the pursuit and ultimate apprehension of a man they described as a “serial burglary suspect who also assaulted a law enforcement officer.” The fleeing suspect, Christian Ottinot, 21, of Broward County, Florida, led police on a pursuit that began in Broward County and ended in neighboring Martin County.
And the bumper car pursuit was all caught on video. You can check out that video on Facebook, here.
Ottinot can be seen from the air using his vehicle to ram multiple Martin County Sheriff’s vehicles in hopes of busting through and making good his escape. He failed. Realizing his escape was a lost cause, he bailed out of his Dodge Charger, which the police described as “a bad art experiment.”
After jumping out of that ugly Charger and making a long but unsuccessful run for it, he eventually grabbed some earth and surrendered.
Within minutes of entering Martin County, Ottinot was in handcuffs and under the watchful eyes of Martin County Detectives, a SWAT Team, Road Patrol Units and law enforcement from Broward and Palm Beach Counties.
Ottinot began a reckless crime spree in Broward County as he fled from police yesterday afternoon in his Charger after allegedly committing a string of burglaries. He raced and fled through two counties – ramming multiple patrol cars – before crossing the Martin County line. Upon entering Martin County, he found himself surrounded. He jumped out of his car and tried to make a desperate run for it – which failed miserably.
Ottinot was taken into custody and is currently looking at multiple charges including burglary, fleeing and eluding, and battery on a law enforcement officer.
