Florida man busted dealing enough Fentanyl ‘to wipe out a small community’
On March 29, the Collier County Sheriff’s Office (CCSO,) headquartered in Naples, Florida, reported taking a man previously known to the agency off their streets. On Tuesday night during a traffic stop, the Sheriff’s Office said they seized enough fentanyl “to wipe out a small community.” Deputies arrested the 27-year-old driver, Erik Santana of 733 Lauren Lane Unit 201, Immokalee, Florida, and charged him with fentanyl trafficking.
“We’re working hard to get this lethal drug off our streets,” Sheriff Kevin Rambosk said. “Thanks to excellent proactive patrolling by our deputies a large amount of fentanyl has been removed from Collier County.”
An alert deputy spotted Santana driving a silver Mercedes sedan in the area of South 4th and West Main Streets in Immokalee around 7:30 p.m. The deputy recognized Santana from previous law enforcement encounters and knew he didn’t have a valid driver’s license.
Deputies conducted a traffic stop and arrested Santana for driving without a license. A search of the Mercedes turned up 38.57 grams of fentanyl, enough to kill 19,285 people, roughly the size of the City of Naples. The fentanyl was packaged for sale in multiple small plastic bags.

According to the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration, one kilogram of fentanyl has the potential to kill 500,000 people. Just two milligrams of the deadly drug – the amount that fits on the tip of a pencil – can be a potentially deadly dose.
