This week, Florida’s Martin County Sheriff’s office announced that after a 4-month investigation led by their Special Investigations Division, Detectives arrested 36-year-old Marc Mathieu of West Palm Beach for 1st Degree Murder.

In March of 2024, Heath Moan of Stuart died of a fentanyl overdose. During the investigation, Detectives were able to determine that the fatal dose of fentanyl was sold to Mr. Moan by Mathieu.  Testing of the purple substance located during the overdose investigation showed the substance contained fentanyl and xylazine, which ultimately caused the death of Mr. Moan.

In the past 15 months, the Special Investigations Division has charged two drug dealers with First Degree Murder and one for Manslaughter, in the deaths of individuals to whom they sold drugs.

Marc Mathieu has been booked into the Martin County Jail on charges of 1st Degree Murder, Trafficking in Fentanyl, Sale, Manufacture, Distribute with Intent and Unlawful Use of a Two-Way Communication Device.
