In the early morning hours of April 3, José Juan Lopez, 23, of Indiantown, Florida, while fraudulently impersonating a U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agent, pulled his vehicle in front another vehicle in Indiantown and demanded identification papers and the immigration status of the two Hispanic males in that vehicle.  At the time of the illegal stop, Lopez, who was wearing pajama pants and a backwards hat – introduced himself as an ICE agent and was threatening to deport them.

WPTV reported that the two men in the car, sensing that something was amiss, managed to drive away and immediately called 911.

Responding to that 911 call, deputies from the Martin County Sheriff’s Office were able to track Lopez, who claimed that he was the actual victim and said the two men threatened him with deportation. After further questioning, deputies arrested Lopez around 3 a.m. on Thursday and charged him with impersonating a federal law enforcement agent.

Lopez has a prior arrest in Martin County which includes resisting arrest, possession of a controlled substance, violation of probation, child abuse, domestic battery and battery. As of April 3, 2025, he was being held at the Martin County Jail on a $2,500 bond.
