(February 25, 2025) Just minutes ago, Florida’s Stuart Police Department shared a bizarre story of a man in a pickup truck who assaulted two seniors, because one of them asked him if he’d soon be vacating his parking spot.

Police say that it was a typical busy Saturday night on January 31, 2025, in downtown Stuart; and finding a parking space was a challenge.  When two seniors hunting for a spot noticed a man getting into his truck, they patiently waited for him to leave the spot. After a few minutes, the 71-year-old female approached the driver and asked if he would be leaving soon.

Things then got weird as the driver of the pickup became upset, exited his truck, and struck the elderly woman, causing her to fall to the ground. He then proceeded to kick the woman while she was still on the ground. Seeing all this go down, the 74-year-old husband exited his vehicle to defend his wife, but the suspect pushed him to the ground and started striking the elderly husband. The irate and violent suspect then fled the scene, and police were called to the area.

Officers immediately searched the area for their suspect but were unable to locate him. The victims were only able to give officers minimal information regarding the suspect and his vehicle, as they were both still in shock from the traumatic incident.

Stuart Police Detectives took over the case, and thanks to their detective work, the suspect was eventually tracked down and identified as Mark Swick, 47, from Land O’ Lakes, Florida.

An arrest warrant was issued, and Swick was arrested in Port St. Lucie. He now faces two felony counts of battery on a person over the age of 65.
