Florida man,24, charged with hiring hitman to kill two witnesses testifying against him in fraud case
On October 27, the U.S. Department of Justice announced that 24-year-old Alexander Leszczynski of North Redington Beach, Florida, was charged with one count of murder-for-hire and one count of obstruction of justice. The indictment also notifies Leszczynski that the United States intends to forfeit any facilitating property or assets that are alleged to be traceable to proceeds of the offense.
According to the charges against him, during August and September 2022, Leszczynski, while using a facility of interstate or foreign commerce, promised to pay an individual to kill two people, identified as Victim 1 and Victim Two.
Both people (Victim 1 and Victim Two) were witnesses in the government’s pending case against Leszczynski, who was indicted in April and arrested in May on a total of eight counts, including wire fraud, bank fraud and money laundering. ~ Tampabay.com
Those fraud and money laundering charges could have meant a maximum sentence of 30 years in a federal prison.
According to court documents, Leszczynski reportedly used “fictitious charitable entities, such as Love & Bliss, Inc., to engage in numerous frauds.”
The U.S. ultimately seized $337,000 from an account the 24-year-old controlled. When he found out the money was frozen, he tried to have it released by fabricating a pardon purportedly signed by former President Donald Trump, the DOJ explains. ~ WTSP
The indictment also alleges that during August and September 2022, Leszczynski corruptly endeavored to influence, obstruct, and impede the due administration of justice in a judicial proceeding pending before United States District Court: namely, the trial of the criminal case of United States of America v. Alexander Leszczynski, Case Number 8:22-cr-155-MSS-SPF, in the Tampa Division of the Middle District of Florida.
If convicted, Leszczynski faces a maximum penalty of 10 years in federal prison on each count.
This case against Leszczynski was investigated by the FBI and the Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office. It will be prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Shauna S. Hale.
