Florida predator arrested, charged with lewd or lascivious battery on a child

On Friday, April 25, Florida’s Marion County Sheriff’s Office (MCSO) announced that their deputies arrested 22-year-old Jaquese Sankey on charges of Lewd or Lascivious Battery on a Victim between 12 and 16 Years of Age, Unlawful Use of a Two-Way Communication Device to Facilitate a Felony, and four counts of Possession of Child Pornography.  That arrest went down on April 17.

Background: On January 2, 2025, MCSO deputies responded to a home in response to a report that a grandmother discovered Sankey in bed with her 13-year-old granddaughter. When confronted, Sankey left the residence quickly, and it was determined that he had secretively entered the residence the night before and engaged in sexual activity with the juvenile victim.

 Major Crimes Detective Ryan Stith responded to continue the investigation. On January 3, Detective Stith located messages between Sankey and the victim on Snapchat. In their conversation, Sankey told the victim that he lives in Tampa and asked to stay the night with the victim. Sankey also received sexually explicit images and videos from his victim.

During a forensic interview, the young girl disclosed that she and Sankey engaged in sexual activity twice on the night of the incident. She stated she and Sankey met through a mutual friend and had been communicating for nearly a month via text message and phone calls. The girl informed investigators that Sankey knew she was only 13 years old.

On February 12, Detective Stith received results from a search warrant that included additional messages between Sankey and 11 other females who advised they were under the age of 18. In the messages, the juveniles made him aware of their age, which he acknowledges and states he doesn’t mind. Sankey also requested sexually explicit photos and videos and showed interest in meeting several of these minors.

Detective Stith was unable to make contact with Sankey, so a warrant was obtained for his arrest. On March 22, 2025, he was located by the Tampa Police Department and arrested for the warrant. Sankey was then extradited to the Marion County Jail, where he admitted to sexually battering the juvenile victim during an interview with Detective Stith.
