Two young and reportedly intoxicated women were taken into custody in the early morning hours of September 14 outside of the Coyote Ugly Bar in Daytona Beach where they were captured on video tossing an infant back and forth to one another, “like a toy.” Reportedly, the two women were approximately four feet away from each other while tossing the baby back and forth. The bar is located near Wild Olive Avenue and Seabreeze Boulevard.
When police got there, Brianna Lafoe, 19, and Sierrah Newell, 20 were arrested just before 1 a.m.

Lafoe could also be seen throwing the baby up and down in the air, “a little too aggressively,” according to one of those witnesses on the scene. Lafoe was also captured on surveillance video walking up to that group of witnesses while she was still holding the baby and striking one of them, a female.
Fox 35 in Orlando reported that after Lafoe hit the woman, she flipped the baby upside down and then grabbed him by his ankles. Lafoe’s cohort, Newell, was on crutches during the baby tossing incident. Lafoe allegedly tried hitting one of the those witnessing and videotaping the scene with one of Newell’s crutches.
When police watched the video recorded by the witness, they saw Newell sitting on the ground while Lafoe was standing up, aggressively swinging the baby up and down, the affidavit states. Lafoe allegedly held the baby upside down and shook him by his ankles over hard concrete. She also “actually and intentionally struck (the woman who was initially recording) on the right arm with an open hand,” police said.
After officers with the Daytona Police Department arrived on the scene, the infant was transported to the Halifax Hospital, where doctors said that, “he had red marks on his back, and X-ray photos indicate the baby has a possible broken arm,” according to WESH.
Following their arrests, both Lafoe and Newell were being held without bond – and both were charged with child abuse. Lafoe was also charged with battery. Police also said that they notified the Florida Department of Children and Families regarding the incident.
