Former JetBlue flight attendant gets 20 years for enticing 8-year-old for sex
On February 4 in a Florida courtroom, 55-year-old Jeffrey Aronofsky of Orlando, was sentenced to 20 years in federal prison, followed by a lifetime of supervised release, for attempted enticement of a child to engage in sexual activity.
Aronofsky, a former flight attendant with JetBlue Airways, pleaded guilty to that charge on August 4, 2020.
According to court documents, in October 2019, Aronofsky engaged in an extensive online chat with an FBI agent who was acting in an undercover capacity and posing as the father of an eight-year-old boy. During the online conversation, Aronofsky expressed interest in meeting with the father in order to sexually assault his minor son. Aronofsky also discussed gang-raping the child.
Furthermore, Aronofsky told the father that he had previously sexually assaulted several other children (including a five-year-old) in the Dominican Republic. Aronofsky was arrested when he traveled to meet the father at a prearranged meeting place so that he could have sex with the eight-year-old boy.
In messages that were exchanged between Aronofsky and the FBI agent, the flight attendant claimed he has had sex with several children — including performing an act on a drugged 6-year-old boy in the Dominican Republic while his father looked on, Spectrum News 13 reported.
The federal agent reportedly then posed as a father who sexually abused his own son and invited Aronofsky to have sex with the child at a hotel in Lake Mary, outside of Orlando. ~ Fox News
In October 2019, when Aronofsky traveled to meet the undercover FBI agent who was posing as the eight-year-old’s father, he was taken into custody. The arrest went down in a Lake Mary, Florida, hotel. Aronofsky was 53-years-old at the time of his arrest.
When law enforcement officers searched Aronofsky’s car at the Lake Mary hotel, they discovered that he had packed a stun gun.
Following his arrest, Spectrum News 13 out of Orlando quoted Derek Dombrowski, manager of corporate communications for JetBlue Airways as saying that JetBlue had become aware of the very disturbing allegations against one of their crewmembers.
“We are fully cooperating with law enforcement and have launched our own internal investigation. Safety and integrity are among our core values at JetBlue, and we take any potential departure from these very seriously.”
