Former teen pop star Aaron Carter found dead in his California home
Singer, musician, actor and former teen pop star Aaron Carter was found dead in his Lancaster, California, home. Carter died on November 5 reportedly from a bathtub drowning. He was only 34-years-old at the time of his passing.
Carter’s death was called in to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department at approximately 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. Their homicide investigators initiated an investigation into his death and then reported that they were not releasing any further information and asked that “anyone with information about this incident is encouraged to contact the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department’s Homicide Bureau at (323) 890-5500.”
Carter rose to prominence as a teenager and even sold over a million copies on his very first album. He eventually became a regular on the channel Nickelodeon on the shows “Lizzy McGuire” and “7th Heaven.”
He’s been transitioning into rap and even made some appearances in reality television, most notably “Dancing With The Stars.” Aaron Carter is the younger brother of ex-Backstreet Boys star Nick Carter. He opened for Brittany Spears on one of her tours in the early 2000s, too. ~ MSN
Carter had his troubles with mental health and substance abuse issues in the past. Dating back to 2017, he informed the press and his fans that he was taking a combination of benzodiazepines and opiates to “alleviate his stress and anxiety”. Also in 2017, he was arrested on DUI and pot possession charges. In 2019, he admitted to being diagnosed with schizophrenia and bipolar disorder, according to Fox 11 News.
Carter’s fiancée, Melanie Martin, released a statement yesterday saying, “We are still in the process of accepting this unfortunate reality.”
Martin went on to say, “Your thoughts and prayers are greatly appreciated.” She asked for privacy as the family grieves. Carter and Martin welcomed son Prince on Nov. 22, 2021. ~ Fox News Los Angeles
