On September 12, Florida’s Broward Sheriff’s Office (BSO) Strategic Investigations Division (SID) arrested 46-year-old Wanxin Li of Fort Lauderdale for operating multiple massage parlors as prostitution fronts in two counties.  In March 2023, investigators with BSO’s SID unit received an anonymous tip that Li was running two active prostitution operations, one in Oakland Park in Broward County and the other in Stuart in Martin County.

An investigation into Li’s activities commenced and detectives learned that she resided in a condominium in the 2800 block of N.E. 33rd Court in Fort Lauderdale. Investigators also determined that she owned and operated a building, listed as a massage spa, at 1545 East Oakland Park Blvd. in Oakland Park and a storefront within a shopping plaza at 1690 N.W. Federal Highway in Stuart.

Investigators soon collected evidence of illegal activities committed at Li’s Fort Lauderdale residence and were able to determine that prostitution was occurring at both locations. A warrant for Li’s arrest and search warrants for the properties were then obtained.

On September 7, BSO SID detectives arrested Li at her Fort Lauderdale home. Investigators also executed a search warrant at her home and at the spa in Oakland Park. At the same time, Martin County Sheriff’s Office (MCSO) SWAT team, with assistance from other BSO SID investigators, executed a search warrant at Li’s business in Stuart.

According to detectives, the spa in Oakland Park was unoccupied; however, two females were found living within the storefront in Stuart. MCSO arrested one of the females after identifying her as a suspect in another active prostitution investigation.

Li faces charges related to deriving support from prostitution, money laundering over $100,000, and maintaining a place for prostitution.

Detectives say there is no evidence of human trafficking at this time.
