On August 21, the Martin County Sheriff’s Office (MCSO) headquartered in Stuart, Florida, shared a video and booking photos of four teenage girls from nearby Broward County performing a “grab and flee” from a Jensen Beach sporting goods store.  The young ladies might have gotten away with the stolen goods if it wasn’t for an off-duty Port St. Lucie Police Officer who witnessed the brazen event, followed them after they drove off in their getaway vehicle and called for backup. See the store’s surveilance video below.

Officers with the Stuart Police Department picked up the pursuit and followed the girls’ car  over the bridge, where Martin County Sheriff’s Deputies were waiting for them on the other side. After a brief car chase, deputies used their cars to block in the getaway vehicle until it had to stop.

After that stop, Kevaria Jones, Keiyonna Jones, Kayayla Hunter and Markesha Desrovil, all from Broward County, were taken into custody and booked into Martin County Jail on felony retail theft charges.

Police estimate that before they were captured, the girls made off with approximately $3,000 In stolen merchandise.  Investigators are looking into the possibility that these four girls are responsible for the thousands of dollars of theft in additional stores across Florida, according to CBS-12 News.
