On Tuesday, January 28, Florida’s Martin County Sheriff’s Office (MCSO) announced that they were searching for the suspect who robbed the Seacoast Bank in Hobe Sound that morning. The armed robbery went down around 9:30 a.m. at the bank which is located near the intersection of US1 and Bridge Road.
The bank robber was caught on camera brandishing a large knife and demanding money before fleeing on foot into the wooded area behind the Winn-Dixie shopping plaza.

Martin County law enforcement ground and air units searching for the suspect and the Sheriff’s Office distributed a description their suspect describing him as male with a medium build, wearing a dark jacket, cargo pants, and a black hat or hoodie.
Later that same day, deputies found their fugitive suspect who they identified as 49-year-old Reginald Bernard Daniels. The frightened bank robber was found barricaded in a Hobe Sound rooming house where he resides, not far from the crime scene. Daniels refused to come out of his room, insisting that deputies wanted to kill him.

However, after a brief standoff with SWAT and MCSO negotiators, he was taken into custody. Following his arrest, Daniels was charged with attempted armed robbery and aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.
