Fugitive in quintuple Baltimore City shooting tracked down, arrested, charged with murder
The Baltimore Police Department announced the capture and charging of Arthur McCaden, 36, wanted for shooting five people, one of whom died, on West North Avenue in 2021. On December 17, 2021, at approximately 7:49 p.m., Baltimore City patrol officers in the city’s Western District responded to the 1200 and 1300 blocks of West North Avenue, for a Shot Spotter alert.
Once there, officers located 36-year-old Derrick Smith who was unresponsive and suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. Officers also located four additional victims suffering from non-life-threatening gunshot wounds to the body.
Medics responded to the location and transported Smith to an area hospital where he later died. On February 1, 2022, Homicide detectives obtained a warrant, charging 36-year-old Arthur McCaden with Smith’s 1st degree murder.
On February 23, 2022, investigators tracked down McCaden in Montgomery County, Pennsylvania, where he was apprehended while committing a larceny in a convenience store.
McCaden was taken into custody on Feb. 23 in Montgomery County, Pennsylvania, where he was arrested in an unrelated theft case, police said. He was transferred on Tuesday to Baltimore. ~ CBS News, Baltimore

On April 19, “repeat violent offender, Arthur McCaden,” was transported to Baltimore’s Central Booking Intake Facility where he was charged with 1st degree murder. He’s being held without bail and has a preliminary court date scheduled for May 19.
