This year, the world will celebrate December 8 as Wonder Woman Day 2019. To honor that auspicious occasion, Warner Bros. Pictures announced yesterday that their new epic film, “Wonder Woman 1984”, will close the show at this year’s Comic Con Experience, better known as CCXP, in São Paulo, Brazil on Sunday, December 8.

The presentation will feature several firsts, including the film’s star, Gal Gadot, and director, Patty Jenkins, both on hand to introduce the first-ever trailer for their upcoming film, due in theaters next June. And for the first time in the history of CCXP, the show will be livestreamed on Twitter, connecting the talent and the 3500 fans inside the venue to Wonder Woman fans around the world in real time.

Additionally, those in the room will be able to see tweets from around the world as they cascade live down a giant screen on the stage. The panel will also feature a Q&A and other big surprises as well.

To follow the event live: @WonderWomanFilm will host the livestream, with Twitter handles from across the globe sharing as well. Fans will have the opportunity to sign up for Wonder Woman updates via @TwitterMovies as well.

“Wonder Woman 1984” – The Movie

Gal Gadot added on Instagram, “Oi Brasil! #WW84 is coming to Brazil #CCXP in December and I’m so excited to see you all! #DayOfWonder.”

Wonder Woman’s next big screen adventure finds her facing all-new foes – but in the 1980s.  This will be a “standalone” film and shouldn’t be considered a sequel to Gadot’s first “Wonder Woman” movie.

Director Patty Jenkins’ “Wonder Woman 1984” stars Gadot in the title role, alongside her character’s love interest, Steve Trevor, again played by Chris Pine.  Gadot said that 1984 will present a deeper look into WW’s Princess Diana, who is “somehow” reunited with Trevor.  <Spoliler Alert>  Recall that Trevor perished at the end of the first film.

“Other than the wonderful work Lynda Carter did in the TV show, this character was never really told on the big screen,” Gadot told EW. “We just see her origin story. But there’s so much to explore with this character who has 75 years of legacy, there’s so much material and so many ways and I’m psyched about it.”  ~ comicbook.com

The latest Wonder Woman film will also feature Kristen Wiig as The Cheetah, Pedro Pascal as Max Lord, Robin Wright as Antiope and Connie Nielsen as Hippolyta. Jenkins directs from a screenplay she wrote with Geoff Johns and Dave Callaham, story by Jenkins and Johns.

“Wonder Woman 1984” will arrive at your local theater on June 5, 2020.
