July 10 Update:  On July 9, the Ventura County Sheriff shifted its search for missing actress Naya Rivera from a search and rescue operation to a recovery one, according to a spokesperson from the Ventura County Sheriff’s Department.

On July 8, the “Glee” star was reported missing after a swimming accident in Ventura County, California. Ace News Today’s original article appears below.

Disturbing news coming out of Ventura County, California, after it has been widely reported that actress Naya Rivera has gone missing from a pontoon boat she rented on July 8 to enjoy a three-hour excursion on the Southern California waters of Lake Piru with her toddler son.  Rivera’s four-year-old son was found alive and well – but all alone on the boat.  He told rescuers that his mom had jumped in the water and never came back.

SFGate reported that the child was wearing a life jacket when he was found alone on the boat.  Identification belonging to Naya was also found on the boat.

Rivera reportedly rented the boat around 1 p.m. yesterday, but the boat “was found three hours later with her son, Josey Hollis Dorsey, inside but her missing,” according to UPI.

“We’re going on the belief that she did go in the water and we have not been able to locate her. So this may well be a case of drowning,” Captain Eric Buschow said during a news conference. ~ Ventura County Sheriff’s Office Spokesperson

Rivera portrayed a cheerleader named Santana on the hit TV show “Glee” and appeared in 113 episodes during the show’s run.  Her son who was found alive on the boat is from Naya’s marriage with actor Ryan Dorsey.  Rivera and Dorsey divorced in 2018.

Rivera’s son Josey is reported to be fine, and safely in the care of family members.
