11/05/2020 Update: On November 5, 2020, Detectives with the Criminal Investigations Division of the Harford County Sheriff’s Office, with information provided by the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner, were able to conclusively rule the incident as a Homicide and subsequent Suicide.

On October 31, at approximately 9:58 a.m., deputies assigned to the Harford County Sheriff’s Office Northern Precinct responded to the 3600 block of Duxbury Court in Jarrettsville, MD after a family member found a husband and wife deceased in the home. Deputies made entry into the residence and located the 75-year-old male, identified as Gregory Weller, deceased from what appeared to be a self-inflicted gunshot wound. Deputies also discovered his wife, identified as Thelma Weller,76, deceased in another room from a gunshot wound. Both victims were pronounced dead at the scene and transported to Maryland Office of the Chief Medical Examiner to determine cause and manner of these deaths.

Original article: On November 1, detectives with the Harford County Sheriff’s Office reported that they are investigating the deaths of a 76-year-old Jarrettsville woman and her 75-year-old husband.  The two were found dead inside their home.

On October 31 at approximately 9:58 a.m., deputies assigned to the Harford County Sheriff’s Office responded to the 3600 block of Duxbury Court in Jarrettsville, Maryland, after a family member found the husband and wife deceased in the home.

Deputies made entry into the residence and located the man and woman deceased in separate rooms. Each suffered, what the initial investigation indicates to be, an apparent gunshot wound; they were pronounced dead at the scene.

Patrol deputies secured the scene and the Harford County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigations Division was requested to respond and assume the investigation. Detectives assigned to the Forensic Services Unit responded to process the scene for evidence.

Both individuals were transported to the Maryland Office of the Chief Medical Examiner to determine cause and manner of death.

This investigation remains active and ongoing. The identities of the deceased and any further details will not be released at this time. The motive and time of death is still undetermined. The Sheriff’s Office does believe the deaths to be suspicious.

Duxbury Court in Jarrettsville is located in a normally quiet and rural section of Harford County.

Detectives believe this to be an isolated incident, with no greater threat to the community. Anyone with information about this incident is asked to call Detective Berg at 443-409-3302.
