Harford County man arrested in connection with recent shooting in Abingdon

On November 5, Maryland’s Harford County Sheriff’s Office announced the arrest of a 41-year-old in connection with Monday’s shooting in Abingdon.  On Monday at approximately 4:05 p.m., Harford County deputies were dispatched to the 3500 block of Woodsdale Road in Abingdon for the report of a shooting.

Upon arrival, deputies discovered Eric Chi Fonong Igwacho, 27, of Bel Air, suffering a gunshot wound to the lower body. Deputies rendered first aid until medics arrived. Igwacho was subsequently transported to a local trauma center for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.

The investigation was assumed by detectives with the Harford County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigations Division. Deputies from the Forensic Services Unit as well as the K9 and Drone Units responded to assist. Through investigation, detectives were able to identify the suspect, Justin Matthew Schlotterbeck, 41, of Aberdeen. An arrest warrant was obtained by detectives charging Schlotterbeck with attempted 1st degree murder and other charges related to the shooting.

Detectives, K-9 units and drones were used in the investigation, and deputies found Schlotterbeck in his vehicle parked in front of his residence, the sheriff’s office said. He was taken into custody without incident.  ~ WBAL-TV

During a search of Schlotterbeck’s vehicle, Detectives located and seized a handgun that had been disassembled. Schlotterbeck was transported to the Harford County Detention Center where he is being held without bond. Assistance was provided by officers from the Aberdeen Police Department and troopers from the Maryland State Police Bel Air Barrack,

While motive of the shooting remains under investigation, the Sheriff’s Office said that the two men were known to one another.
