On June 15, the Harford County Sheriff’s Office reminded the community that there’s an unsolved murder on their books and they posted a request seeking the public’s assistance in solving the case.
According to the Sheriff’s Office, on April 21, 2013, Robert Wesley Johns was discovered deceased in his apartrment in the 1700 block of Fountain Rock Way, Edgewood, Maryland. Johns was suffering from a gunshot wound to the head and his residence appeared to be ransacked.
Officers said the first thing they noticed when they arrived was blood on the door. After forcing their way into the home, police said they found the body of Robert Wesley Johns, 51, lying on the floor. ~ WBAL-TV (April 22, 2013)
During the investigation, detectives learned that Johns had recently sold off some of his property and was in possession of a large sum of money, which law enforcement believes may have been the motivation for the homicide. Witnesses reported hearing a lot of commotion coming from Johns’ apartment around midnight, followed by loud noises, possibly gun shots.
Detectives believe that there are additional witnesses that may have information on this incident that did not come forward for one reason or another.
