On September 7, the Harford County Sheriff’s Office (HCSO) reported that their detectives were actively investigating a stabbing that went down in Joppa, Maryland, late Sunday night.
On September 5, 2021, at 10:53 p.m., deputies responded to the 300 block of Oakway Court in Joppa for the report of a stabbing. Upon their arrival, deputies located a man, identified as Matthew Tingler, 37, of Joppa, suffering from a stab wound to his upper body. After initially attempting to refuse treatment, Tingler was transported to Johns Hopkins Bayview Medical Center for treatment, where he later self-discharged.
The investigation into the stabbing was assumed by detectives from the Harford County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigations Division. Investigators from the Forensic Services Unit responded to the area to collect and preserve physical evidence in support of the investigation.
Initial investigation indicates Tingler became involved in a domestic related altercation with his girlfriend, Kathleen Moreau, 38. At some point during the altercation, Moreau stabbed Tingler in the mid-section, then fled the scene. A warrant was issued for her arrest.
Deputies assigned to the Warrant Apprehension Unit began searching for Moreau. On Tuesday, September 7, deputies with the Warrant Fugitive Unit took Moreau into custody without incident.
She has been charged with attempted 1st and 2nd degree murder, 1st and 2nd degree assault and other related charges. She is currently being held at the Harford County Detention Center awaiting her initial appearance before a District Court Commissioner.
The Sheriff’s Office said that this investigation is still active and ongoing and that they won’t be releasing any additional details at this time.
Anyone with information about this case is asked to call Detective DeFazio, with the Harford County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigations Division, at 410-638-3603.
