As of this writing, we’re still a few weeks away from the holiday of love, Vantine’s Day.  And if you haven’t booked your romantic getaway yet for the one you love, or the one you’re with, we have some fantastic news for you.

New research conducted by QR Code Generator, examined regional data on the number, average rating, and cost of hotels categorized as romantic on Booking.com, and the number and average rating of restaurants labeled romantic on Tripadvisor. The states with the highest final index score were named in the top ten states for a Valentine’s Day getaway. And no further adieu . . .

Wyoming takes the crown as the best state for a romantic getaway, with a final index score of 77.05 out of 100. The average price of a one-night stay at a romantic hotel is $169.69, which is 28.9% less than the national average of $238.67. There are also 255% more romantic hotels in the state than average, at 7.1 per 100,000 people.  

In second place, with a final index score of 75.42 out of 100, is Maine. The state has the highest average rating for romantic hotels in the study, 8.54 out of 10. Additionally, there are 17.2 romantic restaurants per 100,000 people, which is 191.52% above the national average of 5.9.  

With a final index score of 70.64 out of 100, Vermont is the third-best state for romantic vacation goers this Valentine’s Day. According to the study, there are 21.3 romantic hotels per 100,000 people, which is 261% above the national average. Vermont also has the highest average rating for all romantic restaurants in the United States, 4.42 out of 5.  

Hawaii is the fourth-best state for a romantic getaway on a budget, with a final index score of 61.72 out of 100. This dream destination has 5.1 romantic hotels per 100,000 people, which is 155% above the national average. On top of this, couples have the chance to stay at romantic hotels with an average rating of 8.36 out of 10. 

According to the study, Montana ranks fifth with a final index score of 61.54 out of 100. The state has 8.5 romantic hotels per 100,000 people, which is 44% above the national average in the United States. Montana’s romantic restaurants are also rated 1.4% higher than the national average, at 4.34 out of 5.

Oregon, with a final index score of 60.60 out of 100, follows in sixth place. On average, couples will pay $193.06 for a one-night stay at a romantic hotel, which is 19.1% cheaper than average. These hotels are also rated 8.40 out of 10 on average, according to the study.  

Colorado ranks seventh, with a final index score of 60.44 out of 100. With final index scores of 59.15 out of 100 and 58.22 out of 100, Florida and Idaho follow in eighth and ninth place, respectively. The tenth cheapest state for a romantic getaway this Valentine’s Day is South Carolina, with a final index score of 57.67 out of 100.  

On the other hand, New York is the most expensive state for couples looking for a romantic getaway. There are 0.4 romantic hotels per 100,000 people, which is 80% below the national average. Additionally, a one-night stay at a romantic hotel is 576.75% more expensive than the national average, at $1,615.21. As such, the state has a final index score of 21.85 out of 100.  

Oklahoma follows in second place, with a final index score of 28.07 out of 100. In the state, there are 2.9 romantic restaurants and 0.6 hotels per 100,000 people, which is 50.84% and 70% below the national average, according to the study.  

North Dakota ranks in third place, with a final index score of 28.25 out of 100, followed by New Jersey in fourth place, with a final index score of 32.76 out of 100. Kansas is the fifth most expensive state for a romantic getaway, with a final index score of 35.06 out of 100.
