Hitler admirer who crashed U-Haul in DC wanted to get into the White House, seize power, kill Biden

On May 22 around 9:40 p.m., United States Park Police (USPP) and United States Secret Service Uniform Division officers responded to the 1600 block of H Street NW in Washington D.C. for a U-Haul truck that intentionally crashed into the bollards on the outside of Lafayette Park – just north of the White House. The driver of the vehicle was identified as Sai Varshith Kandula, 19, of Chesterfield, Missouri.
According to the criminal complaint filed against the teen U-Haul driver, the Secret Service charged Kandula with “depredation of property of the United States in excess of $1,000.” Earlier, the USPP reported that following his arrest, Kandula was charged with: assault with a dangerous weapon, reckless operation of a motor vehicle, threatening to kill / kidnap / inflict harm on a president, vice president, or family member, destruction of federal property, and trespassing.
There were no injuries reported in the crash. And there were no weapons or ammunition found inside the truck.
Forbes reports that Secret Service officers detained the driver and shut down access to the area just after 10 p.m. on Monday night after the driver rammed his U-Haul truck into the barriers at Lafayette Square.
The driver reportedly carried a Nazi flag with him and had intended to drive the truck onto White House grounds, according to eyewitnesses, local CBS affiliate WUSA9 reported. A preliminary investigation found the driver may have struck the barriers intentionally, Secret Service spokesperson Anthony Guglielmi said in a tweet.
When Secret Service agents Interviewed Kandula about why he had a NAZI flag in his personal backpack, the teen reportedly told them he purchased it online because Nazis “have a great history,” as detailed in court documents and according to NBC News. Kandula went on to say that he, “admires their ‘authoritarian nature, Eugenics, and their one world order.” The 19-year-old went on to say that he believed Adolph Hitler was a “strong leader” and one that he admired.
Karine Jean-Pierre, the White House press secretary, said President Biden had been briefed on Tuesday morning about the incident. “The president was here yesterday working, so of course he was here last night” when the incident occurred, she added. ~ New York Times
NBC News went on to report that, according to court papers, Kandula “stated his goal was to ‘get into the White House, seize power, and be put in charge of the nation,'” the document states. “When agents asked how Kandula would seize power, he stated he would ‘Kill the President if that’s what I have to do and would hurt anyone that would stand in my way.'”
