‘Home Improvement’ child star Zachery Ty Bryan arrested on domestic violence charges, again
You might remember Zachery Ty Bryan for the role he made famous as the eldest son in Tim Allen’s “Home Improvement” TV show that aired from 1991 though 1999. Bryan has had a few bit acting roles since leaving that hit show – but in recent years he’s been in the headlines mostly for his domestic violence charges.
On July 30, TMZ was the first to report that the actor turned producer, “was arrested Friday for felony assault, in violation of the Abuse Prevention Act.” Allegedly, Bryant was arrested for going after someone who already had a domestic violence restraining order in place against him. The arrest went down by the police in Eugene, Oregon.
The details of his current arrest are still slim; but news outlets say that the charges against Bryan echo those of his earlier domestic violence charges from three years ago.
Back in 2020, he was taken into custody after assaulting his girlfriend at the time, Johnnie Faye Cartwright. That arrest also went down in Eugene, according to MSN. In 2021, Bryan pleaded guilty to two felony accounts of domestic violence for which he was sentenced to three years’ probation and was required to participate in a batterer-intervention program. After some plea bargaining, he “ended up pleading guilty to two lesser charges … misdemeanor menacing, and misdemeanor assault,” according to TMZ.
Several other charges in that case, including harassment, coercion, strangulation, interference with making a police report and two additional counts of menacing and assault, were summarily dismissed according to a 2021 report from Yahoo! News.
Regarding this latest domestic violence allegation, Bryan was nowhere to be found when law enforcement arrived at a residence in Eugene last week to pick him up. Officials eventually caught up with him though. And the Eugene Police Department arrested him, put him in jail and booked him, according to MSN.
Although it’s not definitely known yet who his latest alleged victim is …
Zach actually ended up getting engaged to the woman he was accused of attacking in 2020. Unclear if this is tied to that same woman — but all signs point to it being her. BTW, they share children together, it seems … and there’s more on the way, per reports. ~ TMZ
