Honeymoon is over: Tucker Carlson ’passionately’ hates Donald Trump
New information that came to light on March 7 as part of the legal filings that were disseminated to the public thanks to Dominion Voting Systems’ $1.6 billion defamation lawsuit against the Fox News Network, unleashed a massive amount of deposition transcripts, e-mails and private text messages that unveiled an ugly look at many of the behind-the-scenes shenanigans of the right-wing network and some of it’s celebrity talking heads.
The filings expose the face of the network, Tucker Carlson, as a fraud. They show that Rupert Murdoch rejected conspiracy theories about Dominion, despite allowing them to be promoted on his network. And they show the contempt that hosts like Sean Hannity have for some of their colleagues who tried to tell the truth about what actually transpired in the 2020 election. ~ CNN
If you didn’t know any better, you’d think that Fox News celebrity Tucker Carlson was Donald Trump’s most avid supporter – or at least that’s the way it seems from his on air broadcasts. Turns out, just the opposite is true. One revelation gleaned from those hundreds upon hundreds of pages of legal filings and text messages show that Tucker Carlson “passionately” hates the ex-president.
Throughout Trump’s presidency, Carlson did – in word and deed – avidly support the Donald, going as far as accusing other media outlets of hating Trump with an “all-consuming mania,” suggesting that the then-president couldn’t catch a break from negative coverage. Newsweek shared all the private texts mentioning Trump that Carlson sent to a Fox associate on January 4, 2021 – as revealed by those legal documents that were made public on Tuesday, March 7:
“We are very, very close to being able to ignore Trump most nights.”
“I truly can’t wait.”
“I hate him passionately. I blew up at [former Trump adviser] Peter Navarro today in frustration. I actually like Peter. But I can’t handle much more of this.”
“He was pushing voting fraud stuff. I have no doubt there was fraud. But at this point, Trump and [pro-Trump lawyers] Lin [Wood] and [Sidney] Powell have so discredited their own case, and the rest of us to some extent, that it’s infuriating. Absolutely enrages me.”
“That’s the last four years. We’re all pretending we’ve got a lot to show for it, because admitting what a disaster it’s been is too tough to digest. But come on. There isn’t really an upside to Trump.”
Dominion Voting Systems, the company that managed the voting machines used in the 2020 presidential election, sued Fox News claiming that the network caused “severe damage” by supporting and promoting the 2020 election conspiracy theories it knew were false – including bogus claims that Dominion equipment was used to rig the 2020 election for Biden, that it was tied to the late Venezuelan President Hugo Chávez and that it bribed U.S. government officials, according to NBC News.
The legal filings’ revelations from yesterday also shed light on Rupert Murdoch’s actual beliefs that Dominion’s voting machines had not been rigged, while his broadcasters were claiming just the opposite on air.
