UC Berkley, aka University of California, Berkeley, also affectionally known as UC “Beserkley” by some, rests on approximately 1,232 acres in California’s Alameda County in the greater San Francisco area, and is home to a variety of academic, administrative and student residential buildings, with some of those buildings closed for repair and renovations – including one shuttered building on the Clark Kerr Campus where human remains were found recently, according to a January 13 report from ABC News.

The building is part of a residential hall complex about one mile away from the main campus – and it was in this closed up and currently unused structure where a human skeleton was discovered on Tuesday.

According to the University’s Police Department, “there are no outstanding cases of missing persons from the Berkeley campus community, and the building has not been occupied for many years.”

It’ll be up to the Coroner in Alameda County to determine the cause of death

MSN reports the police as saying that it’s not known how long those remains were in the building, which is Building 21 at 2601 Warring Street on the Clark Kerr Campus.  The remains were found while a construction crew was working in the building. There is reportedly a high number of homeless in the area where the remains were discovered.
