Husband arrested and charged after attacking wife with Christmas tree
According to a Lake County, Florida, police arrest report, 52-year-old Richard Atchison was taken into custody and has been accused of attacking his wife with the family Christmas tree at the couple’s Fruitland Park home on the evening of December 12. Reportedly, the Florida hubby “lost his temper” when his wife asked him to help her prepare the evening’s dinner.
After allegedly hitting his wife with the Christmas tree, the Scrooge-like husband was arrested on multiple charges that included False Imprisonment and Domestic Battery, according to the Arrest Affidavit issued by the Fruitland Park Police Department.
After the wife asked for help making dinner, she placed a spoon in the sink, accidentally splashing her husband, which really set him off. The husband got so irate, he started packing up his belongings and moving his things out to his car.
He then returned home because “he had been drinking” and told his wife to leave instead.
When she tried to leave, deputies said Atchison shoved her, and then picked up a Christmas tree in the corner of the room and threw it at her, striking her. Authorities said he then blocked the front door to prevent her from leaving. ~ Fox 35 Orlando
Atchison’s wife went into the bedroom to separate herself from him and to call authorities for help.
Following his arrest, the husband was booked into the Lake County Jail held where he was held on a $8,000 bond. He was released the next day, according to ABC 4 News.
