On December 15, the husband of 29-year-old Andrea Nicole Baber of Cottage Grove, Oregon, came home to find his wife, then a teacher at Logos Christian Academy, in bed with one of her students – a 15-year-old boy. The husband may have been tipped off by the teen boy’s parents, “after he and his wife received an anonymous email asking if they knew the boy and the Logos Christian Academy teacher were in a sexual relationship,” according to a police report shared by The Register-Guard. The message sent to the boy’s parents came complete with pictures of the boy and Baber together in bed, per an affidavit filed in Douglas County Circuit Court.

The boy’s parents also reported the sexual affair to the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office on December 12. The News-Review reported that Baber was taken into custody at her home on December 15. The boy told sheriff’s deputies that he and his Christian school teacher had been involved in a sexual relationship for more than a year. Deputies also reported the teen as saying that Baber also occasionally provided him with alcohol and weed, according to Fox News.  Baber’s husband reported to Child Protective Services that he discovered topless photos of his wife had been sent to the teen boy via cell phone text messaging.

It was confirmed that Baber is no longer employed at the Logos Christian Academy.  The New York Post reported that following her arrest, she was booked into the Douglas County Jail and charged with sodomy, rape and contributing to the delinquency of a minor. The Post also shared a portion of Baber’s on-line bio from the Academy, which has since been removed from the Christian school’s website:

“Andrea has always felt called to work with youth and is very excited that God opened the door for her to be part of the Logos team. She lives with her husband, dog and cat just south of Eugene.”

Also according to the school’s website, Baber taught language and literature, writing and speech communication. She graduated from Northwest Christian University in May 2014. In total, Baber was charged with third-degree rape, third-degree sodomy, contributing to the sexual delinquency of a minor, first-degree online sexual corruption of a minor and unlawful delivery of marijuana to a person under 18 years of age. She has since been released from jail and is scheduled to be back in court to face charges on March 18.
