Early in the morning of July 29, the Prince George’s County Sheriff’s Office announced that their Sheriff’s Warrant/Fugitive Division arrested Franklin Moncada-Andino on July 23 on a warrant for First Degree Assault.  That arrest warrant was obtained by the Hyattsville City Police Department on April 20.

According to the warrant, on March 27, detectives with the Hyattsville City Police Department spoke with a victim who disclosed being assaulted by the 36-year-old Moncada-Andino while in a vehicle located in Hyattsville, Maryland.  Detectives learned that Moncada-Andino had allegedly struck the victim with a hard object before pulling the victim out of the car.  Moncada-Andino fled the scene before police arrived.

On July 23rd, deputies determined that Moncada-Andino could be located at an address in the 2000 block of Fordham St. in Hyattsville.  Upon arrival, deputies knocked, and a resident allowed them to enter the home. Once inside, Moncada-Andino was identified, served the warrant, placed into custody, and transported to the Prince George’s County Department of Corrections in Upper Marlboro without incident.
